BUG Ninja Tune XX night is part of this year's onedotzero festival and is happening on Friday November 12th at BFI Southbank.

There will be twenty years of classic music videos and audio-visual wonders from the groundbreaking British label celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year - and Ninja Tune founder and Coldcut stalwart Matt Black will be Adam's special guest on stage, talking about the music video output of the label in general and Coldcut in particular.

Hexstatic – Ninja Tune

From the start, with their legendary DJ/producer outfit Coldcut and their audio-visual offshoot HEX, Black and More were determined to create superb visuals to go with the music. That philosophy has been followed by a raft of signature artists on the label. From 2000 this one directed by Hexstatic.

Bonobo – Flutter

Two-man animation team Conkerco – Chris Rule and Ben White. Clint Eastwood- style poncho-wearing man with no name stroll through a cartoon Shoreditch.

Amon Tobin – Four Ton Mantis

Directed by Floria Sigismondi. There is nothing quite like it..

Mr Scruff - Sweetsmoke

Mr Scruff whose jazz-influenced dance music is always accompanied by the immediately recognisable characters created by Carthy himself. We’ve prepared a selection.. this one directed by Ben Turner & Mr Scruff

Mr Scruff - Get a Move On

This one directed by Warren Edmond, Mr Scruff..

DELS – Shapeshift

An astonishing 18 months in the making by graphic design and direction team Us Design Studio (that’s Christopher Barrett and Luke Taylor) – but then the video did require a great deal of DELS: he is replicated in a variety of guises, again and again, with mesmeric but also witty results, eventually joined by Joe Goddard from Hot Chip.

Wagon Christ – Shadows

Directed by Mark and Tom Perrett and Celyn Brazier – aka Fizzy Eye. The follow-up for Luke Vibert’s absorbing, eccentric electronica was the darkly humourous Shadows..

Pop Levi – Semi Babe

Something of a BUG favourite. In fact, Pop Levi’s video for Semi Babe was one of the first interactive videos that Adam demonstrated here at BUG. Directed by Ninja Tune’s own Martin Dobson and Aaron Willmer, it’s one of the label’s infrequent performance videos.

Funki Porcini - Atomic Kitchen

Featuring the work of James Braddell – aka Funki Porcini – who has been a Ninja stalwart since 1994 and while making his idiosyncratic jazzy broken beats has also been creating groundbreaking, funny and ingenious visuals – on occasion simultaneously.

Funki Porcini - Last Night over Norway

More from the musician / director Funki Porcini.
